The Principle
Before the prompt, there is the thought.
Technology is changing what it means to create.
Machines can now compose music, perform voices, generate images and transform ideas into finished expressions at extraordinary speed.
We are interested in what happens when we use those capabilities without surrendering the human origin of the work.
At Lyric First, the core idea begins with a person.

Every project begins with a human idea, experience, observation, question or emotion.

The core words are written by a person. The lyric comes before the production system.

Human judgement defines the meaning, tone, rhythm, form, references and intended emotional destination.

Technology Production
Artificial intelligence and digital tools may compose, perform, render, arrange or transform the human-authored material into new forms of expression.

Human Judgement
Outputs are listened to, rejected, selected, revised, edited and shaped. Generation is not the end of the creative process.

We say how the work was made. Human authorship and technological production should not need to be disguised from one another.

- We care where an idea begins. Technology can extend expression without erasing the importance of human origin.

- We do not pretend technologically produced work was made conventionally. If AI has composed, performed or generated part of a work, we are comfortable saying so.
- IIIIntention
- Capability is not the same as meaning. The reason for making something matters as much as the ability to make it.
- IVJudgement
- Creation is not simply pressing Generate. Choosing, rejecting, editing and knowing when something says what you intended are creative acts too.
- VExperimentation
- We are neither defending an old boundary nor celebrating technology for its own sake. We make things in order to discover where the boundary is moving.
We don’t ask whether a machine can make something beautiful.
We ask what makes the beauty matter.
Technology gives us new capabilities.
Humanity gives us reasons to use them.

Soullectual
Music for the human condition on the Digital Road.
Soullectual is the first artistic project produced through the Lyric First philosophy.
Its first release, Minimum Viable Soul, begins with a human-authored lyric and asks what remains human in a world increasingly measured, modelled and mediated by intelligent systems.

Mental trespass.

Redrawing the line — not on the wall, but on the mind.
Graffitive explores the idea of cognitive graffiti: writing over assumptions, identities, conventions and inherited ways of seeing.
Graffiti traditionally takes an existing surface and writes on it without permission. Graffitive moves that act inward.
The old layer is not erased. A new one is written across it.
The project asks what happens when we begin questioning the thoughts, boundaries and identities that feel like our own — and discover that some of them may have been written there by culture, systems, other people or algorithms.

About Lyric First
The space between authorship and execution.
Lyric First explores the changing relationship between human creativity and technological capability.
Music is our first medium, not necessarily our last.
We are interested in words, sound, image, film and other forms in which a distinctly human intention can encounter tools capable of doing things that were previously impossible.
We don’t know where the boundary between human and machine will ultimately fall.
We’re interested in making things at the boundary and finding out.
